Lesson Objective: SWBAT derive, explain and apply a generalized rule for adding integers (from -100 to 100)
CCSS: Math.7N.S.1
CCSS: Math.7N.S.1
- Do Now: SWBAT work on Minute Math to demonstrate learning within various mathematical concepts.
- Whole class: TW review classroom protocols. TW model how to derive and apply a generalized rule for adding integers (from -100 to 100) and continue to model problems sets to help students understand that any addition expression can be represented in the generalized expression p+ q where p is the initial value and q is the distance from p. SWBAT get understanding of how to derive, explain and apply a generalized rule for adding integers.
- Collaborative group: Partner practice is differentiated by levels (Bachelors, Masters) Students find the solution by using diagrams and writing expressions to represent the situation.
- Independent work: Independent practice is differentiated by levels (Bachelors, Masters, PhD) Students find the solution by using diagrams and writing expressions to represent the situation. SWBAT complete Pre-Unit Diagnostic Assessment for Rational Numbers. Any work that is incomplete.
- Homework: Please ensure that you have your parent sign your Minute Math for today and also hand in your parent/guardian signed Syllabus form!
- Have a Highly Motivating Day of Extending Your Learning. It's great to see you again!
