EXPECTATIONS FOR ALL MY SCHOLARS

I am an AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination ) trained educator. Therefore, I have high expectations for the behavior and performance of my scholars. Scholars please make sure you follow them to excel in your studies and character during this year of 6th grade. Think about it in a little over 6 short years, you will be entering college, let's begin working on your future now!
BIG GOALS FOR THE CLASS:
1. Be Safe (Both physically and emotionally)
2. Come Ready to Learn
3. Show Kindness and Love to our Community of Learners
4. Never Stop Trying!
SCHOLARS BEHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS
Scholars are to be accountable and responsible and should at all times:
Whole class: The class will gain points when all students demonstrate positive learning behaviors and expectations. After a goal is reached the class will earn a reward. (Examples, music time, game time, snacks, etc.).
Individual: Scholars will receive merits when they show exceptional learning behaviors. A positive "shout out" and call home.

SCHOLARS BEHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS
Scholars are to be accountable and responsible and should at all times:
- Respect the teacher and other adults in the classroom. That also means advocate for yourself and also for your Teacher!
- Follow the rules and procedures of the classroom
- Do not call out answers and wait patiently for responses to questions
- Wait patiently for teacher to give instructions or explanations before raising your hand. (I usually explain details before you begin working.)
- Remain seated (at your desk or group table) unless directed by the teacher
- Significantly contribute to the overall quiet and thought-provoking learning environment for themselves and others
- Come to school ready to actively learn
- Be prepared, organized and ready to work hard every day – immediately upon entering the classroom
- Bring your required materials each day (pencils, math notebook, glue stick, erasers)
- Make sure you submit all work on time during the scheduled time given
- Work will not be accepted beyond the reporting period. (Every five (5) weeks.)
- Develop proactive listening skills
- Process your thinking before answering questions
- Dispense with any unrelated conversations within the learning environment (you have nutrition and lunch and after school to talk with your friends)
