Lesson Objective: SW use real world positive and negative numbers and zero to develop in their understanding of integers.
CCSS: Math.6.NS.5
(1) Key Mathematical Terminology packet: SW add any new vocabulary terms (on the Quizlet page) to their Key Mathematical Terminology packet. (Please write neatly.)
(2) Complete Quizlet activities. (You must log on!)
(3) To ensure your complete understanding of integers, select from the websites (on math teacher's math website page) to help you develop your understanding of positive and negative numbers and zero. You may choose from levels Basic, Intermediate or Advanced to help you.
(4) Complete 1-2 pages of notes and practice from each website on a separate paper to present to teacher for grading. Make sure that you include the website for each.
(5) Begin working on the assigned packet only after you have done all items above.

- DO NOW: Can you explain how the terms “above” and “below” are related to positive and negative integers on a number line? Please give a real world example.
- Whole class: Teacher will present and model a minilesson using real world problems to help students understand integers.
- Collaborative Group: SW use rally coach structure to work together to answer real world problems utilizing key vocabulary to help them.
- Independent: SW work on teacher website for their assignment. They will select a personal starting level and proactively develop at their own pace to gain understanding of positive and negative integers. SW also work on packet provided by teacher as they progress in their understanding.
- Homework: Begin to study for assessment on integers and plotting ordered pairs on a coordinate grid given later this week.
